Bear: Early this afternoon, Christiana Fire Company was called to the West motel on Pulaski highway in Bear for a reported building fire.
The Deputy Chief, reported smoke showing upon arrival shortly after 2:30 Pm, and additional fire companies were called to the scene, including Wilmington Manor, Delaware City, and Newport fire companies.
While other fire companies were en-route, the blaze was brought under control and they were returned to their stations.
The State Fire Marshall’s Office was notified and upon conducting a criminal investigation, determined the fire was deliberately set by the room’s occupant, Anthony Rullo, 52. He was arrested and charged with 2nd degree arson.
There were no injuries, and tenants were able to return to their rooms.
The property sustained an estimated $3,000.00 in damages according to the state Fire Marshall’s office.
