Pedestrian Struck By Amtrak Train

RIDLEY PARK: An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Ridley Park.

The pedestrian was struck around 11:00 a.m. at the Prospect Park SEPTA station on Hinkley Avenue.

Officials say Train 184 was traveling from Washington, D.C. to New York City with 359 people on board when it struck the pedestrian. There was no injuries to the trains passengers.

The train did not sustain any structural damages as a result of the pedestrian being struck however, it did lose power for a short time.

The passengers were transferred to a SEPTA train and taken to Philadelphia and Amtrak trains were then allowed to go past the scene at a restricted speed.

Commuters are advised to expect delays.
