NEW CASTLE: Shortly after 8:30 P.M. this evening, police were summoned to the Pine Valley Apartments located in the 500 block of South Dupont Hywy in New Castle for a reported shooting.
When police and emergency responders arrived they found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was rendered first aid and an ambulance rushed the victim to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
Police cars lined up along side the Apartment complex on South Dupont Hywy, and in the parking lot near the apartment building. Police cordoned the area with yellow police tape and began investigating.
At 10:30 P.M. neighbors began gathering around to see what was happening. Some say they did not hear any gunshots but saw a group of people running from the area.
Police were seen in the area and in conjoining neighborhoods and shopping centers searching for persons of interest.
