Five Points: Shortly after 9:00 P.M. Sunday Five Points Fire company responded to the 400 block of Mary Ann Drive in Wilmington for a reported house fire with entrapment. Upon arrival, fire officials reported the home engulfed in flames.
After making entry into the home, firefighters had to rescue an elderly home owner who was transported to Christiana Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire was quickly brought under control with the help of several other fire companies including Belvedere and Elsmere fire companies.
There were no other reported injuries however, several cats perished in the fire.
The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office
