Bear: Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Bear area Wawa that occurred earlier this morning.
According to Master Corporal Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police, a male entered the Wawa store located at 1100 Pulaski Highway shortly after 5:05 A.M. The man then confronted a male employee who was behind the sales counter and asked for a carton of cigarettes. Before making a monetary transaction, the suspect demanded money from the cash register and displayed an unknown type handgun.
The employee was unable to turn over the cash and the suspect reached over the counter and forcefully removed the cigarettes from the clerk’s hands before exiting the business and fleeing toward the rear of the business.
The clerk was uninjured in the incident.
The suspect was described as a white male, 20-25 years of age, 5’05”-5’07” tall, 160-180 lbs., last seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark pants, and a dark colored baseball hat (No further physical or clothing description available). An unknown type handgun was displayed.
No video surveillance footage is available at this time.
