“I had about 30 tickets sitting around, dating all the way back to November,” said the winner. “I went into the store with the tickets, and when I got the first ticket scanned, all these numbers shot out of the machine! My vision is not that great now that I’m older, so I had to ask the clerk to make sure I was seeing things correctly.”
The lucky man told Lottery officials that the exciting news still hasn’t sunk in. “I just couldn’t believe it. I told my mom about the news and she started crying. She hugged me and said she was very thankful that I will have peace of mind for the rest of my life.”
“The most exciting thing about this is that I won’t have to worry about retirement anymore,” said the winner. “I will continue to work as a forklift operator because I’ve still got a job to do—at least until retirement.”
According to a Delaware Lottery press release, the winner plans to do some traveling since he enjoys visiting places he hasn’t seen. “I think I want to go to Hot Springs, Arkansas. I camped outside with my girlfriend on a trip not too long ago because we really like nature, but now we can afford a place to stay, and don’t have to sleep on the ground!”
Officials said, the winner claimed his $265,100 prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters in Dover on Wednesday, January 25. He reminded Lottery officials that he still has the remaining 29 tickets to check and is hoping one of them is also a winner.
