County Police investigate crash involving cruiser

New Castle County Police are investigating a crash involving a New Castle County Police vehicle that occurred in the area of West Newport Pike and Tolliver Drive.

Wilmington: New Castle County Police are investigating a vehicle crash involving one of their own cruisers that occurred on W. Newport Pike and Tolliver Drive around 7:00 P.M this evening.

According to police spokesman, Ofc JP Piser, County Police responded to the area of West Newport Pike and Tolliver Drive for a crash with injuries involving a County Police cruiser, driven by an on-duty police officer, and a sedan.

Pisher said, upon arrival, police and emergency medical personnel provided first aid to the occupants of the sedan- a 33-year-old female driver and four children ages 12,10,5 and 2-years-old, as well as the involved officer.

All involved parties sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital. County Police Traffic Services detectives responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation.
