Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian which occurred this morning north of Stanton.
Wilmington: Emergency personnel was called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that involved a pedestrian being struck. According to Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale, a police spokesman, the initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 6:52 a.m. this morning, Monday, January 30, 2017 on westbound DE Rt. 2 (Kirkwood Highway) between DE Rt. 7 (Limestone Road) and St. James Church Road.
Hale said, the pedestrian has died. The operator of the motor vehicle remained at the scene.
Both of the westbound lanes of Kirkwood Highway and one lane of eastbound Kirkwood Highway have been closed to traffic. Commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is enroute to the scene and will assume the investigation. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
