Bridge Inspections to cause Daytime Lane Closures in NCC

TRAFFIC ALERT – Daytime Lane Closures Will Occur in New Castle County for Bridge Inspections

DelDOT’s contractor, Pennoni Associates Inc., will be inspecting bridges during the week of February 20, pending weather.

Motorists should be aware that bridge personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes and anticipate lane shifts.

Wednesday, February 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bridge on Fourth Street over the Christina River in Wilmington

Alternating right lane closures on Fourth Street in the northbound and southbound directions, between North Church Street and Christiana Avenue.

Thursday, February 23 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bridge on Fourth Street over the Christina River in Wilmington

Multiple bridge openings throughout the day to complete inspections in areas only accessible while the bridge is open. Motorists and pedestrians should expect delays when traveling in this area. Fourth Street will remain open with no restrictions between the bridge openings. Vehicular and Pedestrian traffic will be allowed to clear prior to beginning a new bridge opening.

Friday, February 24 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.Bridge on SR 2/Kirkwood Highway over CSX Railroad and Silver Run in Elsmere

Alternating right lane closures on SR 2/Kirkwood Highway in the eastbound and westbound directions between SR100 and Prospect Road. Access to the left-turn lane for SR 100 southbound from SR 2/Kirkwood Highway westbound will be maintained at all times.
