Delaware State Police are currently investigating the strong arm robbery of a 64 year old man which occurred in the parking lot of a Claymont area Wawa early yesterday morning.
CLAYMONT: A man was uninjured in an early morning robbery that occurred at the Wawa at 697 Naamans Rd in Claymont. The man told police that he was approached from behind after he walked out of the Wawa towards his car.
According to police spokesman, Jeffrey R. Hale, Troopers were summoned to the Wawa at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017, there they learned that the 64 year old male victim was walking to his car which was parked in the lot of the Wawa. It was at this time that a male suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed him by the arm. The suspect then demanded the victim’s wallet while implying that he was armed with a gun. The victim then turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then entered a tan unknown make and model vehicle, which then fled from the lot in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured.
The suspect was described as a black male 30-35 years of age. No further description of him is available.
