The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred this afternoon.
NEWARK: Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred on Friday, March 3, 2017 at approximately 1:50 p.m. In a press release, they say, Ciara McLean, 25 of Middletown, exited her vehicle that pulled over onto the shoulder of I95 southbound. For unknown reasons, she attempted to cross the southbound lanes and was struck in the center left lane by a 2008 Honda Accord driven by John Kim, 45 of Maryland. The Honda Accord came to a controlled stop in the center lane just south of the scene.
According to police spokesman, Richard D. Bratz , Ciara McLean was treated at the scene by the New Castle County Paramedics. She was then transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital where she was admitted with serious injuries.
John Kim, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was not injured.
Bratz said, “This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. I95 southbound in the area of the crash was impacted for approximately 45 minutes as only one lane was open.”
