Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area gas station that occured early Thursday morning.
NEWARK: Just before 7:00 P.M. Thursday a male suspect entered the Shell gas station located at 1148 Christiana Road, Newark, approached the sales counter where he then displayed an unknown make and model handgun and confronted a male employee.
Police say, he then demanded money from the cash register. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him. The suspect then exited the store and fled on foot in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.
According to police spokesman, Jeffrey R. Hale, the suspect was described as a black male 30 years of age. He was 5’09” tall, weighed approximately 185 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black baseball cap, and sneakers. Hale said, “there is no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance photos are available at this time.”
