Georgetown Manor apartment goes up in flames

Fire crews are on the scene of a building fire at the Georgetown Manor Apartments.

New Castle (DE): It happened shortly after 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening, when New Castle County Emergency Communications Center received the call about the fire. Fire crews were immediately dispatched to Georgetown Manor Apartments located at 260 Christiana Road near New Castle.

When the fire crews arrived, they reported fire and smoke coming from a second floor apartment and began to extinguish the fire. Moments later, other units arrived to assist.

The fire, reported to be a kitchen fire, was quickly brought under control within 10 minutes.

It is unknown if there were any injuries or how many residents of the building may have been misplaced by the fire.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is on scene and investigating.
