The Harrington Police Department with the assistance of the Delaware State Police were on the scene of of a report of a possible suicidal subject located in a residence in the unit block of Dickerson Street earlier this afternoon.

HARRINGTON (DE): Around noon today the Harrington Police Department received a call for a possible suicidal male located inside a residence in the unit block of Dickerson Street.

According to state police spokesman Gary Fournier, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and Conflict Management Teams were attempting to make contact with the male subject to persuade him to surrender.

Several residences in the area were evacuated as a precaution. Several roads in the area were also closed and motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. a 36-year-old male was taken into custody upon exiting the residence. He was being transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
