The Delaware State Police have arrested a Seaford man for drugs and traffic related charges after a short pursuit that began in Oak Orchard.
MILLSBORO (DE): Police say a Millsboro man is under arrest and charged with several traffic and drug offenses following a brief chase in Millsboro on Thursday. Officials say that a state trooper attempted to stop the vehicle he was operating erratically, an Oldsmobile Aurora on Oak Orchard Road.
According to police spokesman, Gary Fournier, a trooper made the observation at 10:22 p.m. Thursday and when the trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop on the car, it turned into a nearby Royal Farms and then fled southbound on Oak Orchard Road. The car then made a U-turn in the River Mobile Home Park, just off Oak Orchard Road, and then continued northbound on Oak Orchard Road across John J. Williams Highway (SR24) before coming to a stop at the intersection of Mount Joy Road and Townsend Road. That’s when Hashun A. Mitchell, 22 of Seaford, was taken into custody without any further incident.
During the chase, Mitchell was observed throwing an object out of his driver’s side window. Police later went back to that location, where they found the object and determined it to be 1,300 bags (9.1 grams) of heroin. A search of the Aurora also revealed 1.17 grams of marijuana.
Fournier said, Hashun Mitchell was transported to Troop 4 where he was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, Resisting Arrest, Driving Under the Influence of a Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and numerous other traffic related offenses. He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $38,762.00 cash bond.
