Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Wilmington woman.

WILMINGTON (DE): According to Wilmington Police, officers were summoned to the 1300 block of E. 12th street in Wilmington for a report of a motor vehicle accident just after 2:00 a.m.

When officers arrived and began investigating, they revealed that a Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on E. 12th Street and crossed over into the westbound lane striking a Dodge Journey.

Unfortunately, the operator of the Honda Civic, Lakisha Faison, 41, of the 1600 block of Coleman Street, Wilmington, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the collision. A male passenger in the Honda Civic is currently in critical condition.

Police say that the three occupants in the Dodge Journey were treated at the Wilmington Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
