An early afternoon house fire sent two people to the hospital when the residence they were in went up in flames.

NEW CASTLE: (DE): Shortly after 2:00 P.M., Goodwill Fire Company was dispatched to the unit block of Gene Ave in the Castle Hills Development for a reported house fire.

According to Deputy Chief of Operations, David Majewski, arriving units reported smoke showing from the residence and made an attack on the fire.

As a result of the fire, two people were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, Majewski said.

Additional fire companies were called in to assist and the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

The fire is under investigation.
