Sears Holdings will close more than 100 Sears and Kmart stores this year, the company announced.
WILMINGTON (DE): The list of 64 Kmart stores closing and 39 Sears being shuttered includes the only Delaware location in Prices Corner which is scheduled to begin closing mid-April.
Sears Holdings spokesman Larry Costello hasn’t said how many jobs will be cut, but noted that most are part-time positions. Eligible employees will receive severance pay, Costello added.
Most locations will close in March and April. Liquidation sales will begin as early as Jan. 12 next week, Sears said.
In a press release, the company said it is continuing to “right size our store footprint in number and size” based on customers. Sears Holdings has closed more than 1,000 stores in the past several years, including over 200 in 2017.
