A tractor trailer hauling hay on Route 7 in Stanton, overturned around 12:00 p.m. today, sparing its operator who failed to negotiate a curve with potential serious injuries.
STANTON (DE): Police are investigating after a tractor trailer hauling hay overturned near the intersection of Rte 7 & Rte 4 in Stanton.
Police say, the 2000 Koehring tractor trailer was being operated by Pitman Lee Carey III, 39, of Pokomoke City, Md.
According to police spokesman, Michael Austin, Carey failed to negotiate a curve and in turn, the tractor trailer he was operating overturned on it’s right side and came to rest on a grassy median.
“Carey was able to exit the vehicle under his own power and was treated at Christiana Hospital for minor injuries”, Austin said.
Rte 7 was closed for about two hours while crews removed the rig and clean up debris. Carey was cited for reckless driving.
