Wilmington police officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots and found a 21-year-old victim while searching for the crime scene.

WILMINGTON (DE): Wilmington police say officers were patrolling the area of 7th and Spruce St when the officers heard several gunshots in the area.

Officers began canvassing the area and determined that the shooting scene was in the 900 block of Bennett Street. While at the scene, officers were informed that the shooting victim, later identified as a 21-year-old male, was at the Wilmington Hospital.

Officers went to the hospital and contacted the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder area. The victim is in stable condition.
