Secret Service personnel are responding to reports of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound along the north fence line of @WhiteHouse,” the Secret Service posted on Twitter from its official account.
WASH DC: The White House went into lockdown Saturday afternoon after reports of shots fired near the North Lawn, an incident the Secret Service later said was a self-inflicted shooting.
The Secret Service added that medical personnel were responding to a male victim, and that no other injuries associated with the incident were reported.
News footage showed a large police presence around Lafayette Park and the White House North Lawn, which was devoid of the usual weekend traffic. In a later tweet, the Secret Service said the incident was affecting traffic around the area.
