NEW CASTLE (DE): Firefighters are on the scene of a structural fire in New Castle where a detached garage was engulfed in flames shortly before 9:30 a.m. this morning.
According to sources, firefighters were called to 504 West Avenue in Holloway Terrace for a reported fire shortly after 9:15 a.m. Holloway Terrace Fire Company, which is located in the same block arrived at 9:23 a.m. and reported a garage fire that was fully involved. Almost two hours later, numerous police cars and Fire Marshall vehicles were seen driving away towards New Castle County Police headquarters. It’s unknown at this time if the two incidents are related.
According to Assistant State Fire Marshall, Michael Chionchio, the fire was deliberately set and caused an estimated $30,0000 in damages.
