Pickup Truck Runs off Basin Road, hits home, and catches fire

A Homeowner got a rude awakening early Sunday morning when a pickup truck left the roadway and struck the rear of their New Castle home.

New Castle (DE): Authorities are investigating after a pickup truck ran off the road, struck the rear of a house, and caught on fire shortly after Midnight.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on Basin Road when it apparently left the roadway, broke through a fence and struck the rear of a home on Valley Forge Road, where a fire started. Luckily, firefighters were able to contain the car fire before it did any damage to the home.

The driver of the pickup fled before police arrived.

There was no immediate word on any injuries.
