Teen shot in Brookhaven Park in Newark

A teen is in stable condition after being shot in a park in the Brookhaven development in Newark, earlier this evening.

Newark (DE): Police say that patrol officers were dispatched to the parkland on Green Ridge Drive in Brookhaven around 8:15 pm for a report of a shooting.

According to police spokesman Michel Eckerd, “When the units arrived they found a 16-year-old male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.  He was transported to a local area hospital where was listed in stable condition.” 

Detectives from the New Castle Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation., Eckerd said.
