A 15-year-old was arrested for a February homicide that occurred on Bennett Court in Newport by Delaware State Police.
Newport (DE): Police say that detectives were able to identify 15 year-old Angelise Merced of Elsmere as a suspect and on April 13, 2020, Merced was charged with Felony Manslaughter, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.
“The investigation began on February 15, 2020, at approximately 9:56 p.m., when the Newport Police Department and Troopers were dispatched to the unit block of Bennett Court, for a report of a shooting at an apartment.”, according to police spokeswoman Heather Pepper, “Upon their arrival, police located a 15-year-old female gunshot victim at the residence where she was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Merced turned herself in at Delaware State Police Troop 6 and was processed and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. Merced was committed to New Castle County Detention Center on $130,000.00 cash bond., Pepper said.
