Wilmington Manor Checkers robbed at gunpoint Friday night

Two employees were robbed while taking trash out at the Checkers restaurant in Wilmington Manor late Friday night.

New Castle (DE): Police say they are investigating after they were summoned to the Checkers restaurant late Friday night, after receiving reports of a robbery that had occurred.

The restaurant is located in the 1500 block of N. Dupont Hywy in New Castle.

“Upon arrival, contact was made with two employees who advised that while they were taking out the trash, they were approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect displayed a handgun and forced the employees back into the Checkers and demanded money.”, said police spokeswoman Melissa Jaffe. “The victims turned over an undisclosed amount of cash prior to the suspect fleeing the area on foot.”

“The victims did not sustain injury as a result of this incident.”, Jaffe said. “The suspect was described as a black male wearing a mask and armed with a handgun and no surveillance images are available at this time.”
