Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki today announced that the City has reached agreement with FOP Lodge #1, representing 305 police officers (ranked Patrol Officer through Lieutenant), on a new contract.

Wilmington (DE): While the contract Wilmington police currently holds for it’s 305 Rank and File Officers Expires on June 30, the one-year agreement gives rank and file police officers a 2% cost of living salary adjustment (COLA) and will be effective from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

“I extend my thanks to FOP President Greg Ciotti and chief union negotiator Lieutenant Harold Bozeman for working with the City to bring about this agreement,” said Mayor Purzycki. “The City and the union were making progress on a longer-term contract when the process was disrupted by the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis. It’s in the best interests of the City and our police officers during this period of financial uncertainty to agree to this shortened deal, and then we can come back together in 2021 when we anticipate our financial outlook to be improved.”

The Mayor today also expressed his appreciation to the City’s negotiating team led by Human Resources Director Charlotte B. Barnes, and which also included Police Chief Robert J. Tracy, Deputy City Solicitor Rosamaria Tassone-DiNardo, Deputy Budget Director Rob Winkeler, and Council Chief of Staff Marchelle Basnight.

The new contract, which has been ratified by the members of FOP Lodge #1, now goes to Wilmington City Council for its review and approval.
