Update: Police identify pedestrian killed in Milford crash
UPDATE: (06/13/20): Delaware State Police have released the name of the 41-year-old killed in early Friday pedestrian-struck crash as Eric R. Dennis of Lincoln, DE
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old male from Lincoln, DE, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Milford (DE): Delaware State Police say they are investigating a fatal crash that involves a pedestrian being struck by a tractor trailer early Friday morning.
Police say the crash occurred just after 2:00 Friday morning in the Northbound on N. Dupont Blvd just south of Donovan Street in the city limits of Milford.
According to police spokeswoman Melissa Jaffe, “For an unknown reason, a pedestrian appeared from the east side of the highway and stepped directly into the path of the truck. The operator of the truck was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.”
Jaffe said, “The pedestrian, a 41-year-old male from Lincoln, DE, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.”
police say the operator of the Freightliner, a 65-year-old male from Nelsonia, Virginia, was properly restrained and uninjured.
Northbound Dupont Boulevard in the area of Donovan Street was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
