Death investigation underway in Delaware City after body in Delaware River

Editor’s Note: An inquiry on the location of the body shows Bayview Beach as being in Middletown, however, right on the Middletown line near Delaware City, therefore, no changes to the location in which the body was found was made.

Police responded to the Bayview Beach in Delaware City for a body floating in the area of the rocks in the Delaware River between S. New Road and the historic lighthouse.

Delaware City (DE): Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation after locating a body in the Delaware River Tuesday afternoon near the historic lighthouse.

According to a news release, the body was located floating near the rocks near New Street around 2:30 Pm Tuesday.

Heather Pepper, a Delaware State Police Spokesperson said, “The adult male was removed from the scene and turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to confirm the deceased’s identity and perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.”
