Wilmington Police charge man after hit-and-run collision involving an off-highway vehicle that struck a 5-year-old
Wilmington (DE): Wilmington Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run collision involving an off-highway vehicle that struck a 5-year-old on May 25th.
Police say on May 25 at approximately 6 p.m., a male suspect illegally operating a dirt bike in the 600 block of South Buttonwood Street struck and injured a 5-year-old juvenile pedestrian.
“The operator left the scene, and the juvenile was transported to the hospital for treatment in stable condition.,” said police spokesman Dave Karas. “On June 18, 22-year-old Michael Torres turned himself in to Wilmington Police in reference to the May 25 collision.,”
Torres was charged with Vehicular Assault (3rd Degree), Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Injury. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his own recognizance.
