Update: Body found in roadway Friday morning now a hit and run investigation

Police found the body with no signs of life early this morning

Wilmington (DE): New Castle County Police are conducting a death investigation after officers found a lifeless body near a Wilmington intersection in the community of Boxwood.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Laura Court and Champlain Avenue for a report of a female lying in the roadway.

“When the officers arrived, they observed that the female had no signs of life.,” said police spokesman Michel Eckerd. “Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit and the Traffic Services Unit arrived at the scene and have assumed the investigation.”

Update |06/27/20|12:37 Pm| In a Saturday afternoon news release, police say detectives determined the victim died from her injuries as a result of being struck by a vehicle.

Police are now investigating this as a hit and run, and say the collision was deemed to have occurred early Friday (Jun 26) morning.

Detectives identified the victim as 43-year-old Kimberly Behrmann.
