Three people were shot at a large gathering on Independence Day. The next day, one of them died and police want to know more.
New Castle (DE): Police say three people were shot in the Rosegate community off New Castle Avenue Sunday at a large Independence Day gathering.
Police say the gathering was near the Rosegate Park.
“Officers from New Castle County Police were notified that 3 adult males suffering gunshot wounds had been transported to a local hospital.,” said police spokesman Lopez Garcia. “As of today (July 5th) one of the victims succumbed to his wounds.”
Update 07/06/20: The victim was identified as 31-year-old Kirk Flowers on Monday July 6, 2020.
“I extend condolences to the family of Mr. Flowers. Once again, I am saddened at the senseless loss of life and the endangering of several more lives. Since this tragic event occurred our agency has been tirelessly working to identify the suspect (s) responsible for killing Mr. Flowers and injuring two others. However, we will not be able to do this alone, we will need the help of the community. Therefore, we are asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact the New Castle County Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Remember this information can be provided anonymously. The Flowers’ deserves this much.” said New Castle County Chief, Police Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr.
