Two of the pillars for “reopening” Delaware will be widespread coronavirus testing combined with aggressive contact tracing of those who test positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Contact tracing is the process used in public health to find and reach out to the contacts of someone who tests positive for an infectious disease.
It takes a lot of work and time but remains a fundamental public health tool for containing infectious diseases.
To meet the White House and CDC requirements for robust contact tracing, Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay says Delaware will need a lot more people to do this critical work.
