Police say they have arrested a man they believe is responsible for sexual assaults on three children and thank the community for their help.
NEW CASTLE (DE) 07/16/20|09:00|ORIGINAL STORY: New Castle County Police say they are seeking the public’s assistance after they learned that three children were sexually abused back in March.
It’s unknown why it took officials so long to release information about the case, putting more children at risk in the community, but according to a news release, they were notified by a local hospital who were treating three children for child abuse.
Police say they were dispatched to the hospital to investigate and after several interviews, detectives identified 58-year-old John Faulk of Wilmington as the suspect.
The children who police say he allegedly victimized are a 10-year-old, 5-year-old and a 3-year-old.
“Detectives subsequently swore to arrest warrants for one count of felony Rape 2nd degree where victim is less than 12, one count of felony Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 1st degree, four counts of felony Unlawful Sexual Contact of a Child Younger than 13, and two counts of felony Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 2nd degree.,” said police spokesman Michel Eckerd.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating John Faulk. His last known address was in the City of Wilmington, DE.,” Eckerd said at the time.
07/27/20|Update: Now, police say they have Faulk in custody and thank the social media community for their help.
In explaining the department’s apprehension of Faulk, Eckerd said, after posting photos of the sexual assault suspect responsible for the sexual assaults of three children, the suspect was recognized by members of our social media community and a tip was generated that lead investigators to his location.
Detectives were able to conclude their investigation on Thursday July 23, 2020, by arresting 58-year-old John Faulk without incident., Eckerd said.

John Faulk was charged with one count of felony Rape 2nd degree where victim is less than 12, one count of felony Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 1st degree, four counts of felony Unlawful Sexual Contact of a Child Younger than 13, and two counts of felony Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 2nd degree.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $160,000 secured bail.
