During the overnight hours patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to multiple shootings throughout New Castle County.
WILMINGTON (DE) 07/16/20|10:00: New Castle County Police say thy are investigating not one but three shooting incidents that left three people injured Tuesday night in the Wilmington area.
Officials say the first incident occured in Roselle. Just before 10:00 Pm., officers were dispatched to the area of the intersection of Clifton Ave and Sylvan Ave. where they discovered a 20-year-old victim seated in a vehicle that was parked nearby in Biden Park.
“The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen.,” said police spokesman Michel Eckerd. “He was transported to a local area hospital where he was listed in stable condition.”
“Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit were able to identify 20-year-old Rashid Roane, and 20-year-old Makye Fields as the shooters of this incident. On August 3rd, Detectives from the Special Investigation Squad apprehended Rashid & Makye without incident.,” Eckerd said.
Roane was charged with one felony count of Assault in the First Degree, one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, one count of felony Robbery in the First Degree, one count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and one count of felony Conspiracy in the Second Degree. Rashid Roane was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in liue of $202,000.00 cash bail.
Makye Fields was charged with one felony count of Assault in the First Degree, one count of felony Robbery in the First Degree, one count of felony Conspiracy in the Second Degree, and one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Makye Fields was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $202,000.00 cash bail.
Also that night around 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area Bedford Drive in the community of Edgemoor Gardens for a report of shots being fired into a vehicle. Officials say when the officers arrived, they contacted a 19-year-old victim who stated she was inside of a parked vehicle when a second vehicle drove up at shot at her car. The victim was not struck by the gun fire but did sustain minor injuries from the broken glass.
Then, less then two hours later just after 1:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Homestead Rd in the community of Alban Park for a report taken by a patient in a local hospital who stated that he had been shot there. When the officers arrived, they were able to locate a scene in the 500 block of Homestead road. The officers then learned that the 29-year-old victim had been shot in the head but was listed in stable condition., police say.
