A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old male in connection with a July 12 shooting incident.
Wilmington (DE): Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a shooting incident that happened earlier this week.
On Sunday just before 9:00 Pm, officers from the Wilmington Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of W. 23rd street for a shooting complaint. They arrived to find a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound who was subsequently transported to the hospital in stable condition.
As an investigation developed, detectives identified a 16-year-old male as a suspect. An arrest warrant was secured for the suspect, who was taken into custody on July 16., police say.
According to a news release, the suspect was charged with Assault (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Discharge of a Firearm on a Street.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $70,000 cash-only bail., police say.
