Kids playing with guns: After a shooting in the Riverside neighborhood Saturday night that injured two teens, two other teens were arrested after attempting to flee from police at the scene.
WILMINGTON (DE): Wilmington Police have arrested and charged two juveniles for gun offenses following a shooting incident that occurred this past Saturday, July 25, 2020 in the city’s Riverside neighborhood.
Police say, just after 6:30 pm. Saturday night officers were dispatched to the unit block of Jensen Drive in the Riverside neighborhood for a shooting complaint.
“As police officers were responding to the scene, they observed several juveniles attempting to flee the area, and two 16-year-old male suspects were taken into custody. ,” said police spokesman David Karas. “Police also recovered a .40-caliber handgun with an extended magazine.”
Two teens aged 15 and 16, who were suffering from gunshot wounds, were both transported to a local hospital in stable condition., police say.
The teens who were apprehended were both charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 Counts) and resisting arrest.
The suspects were arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and one of them was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $8,500 secured bail. The other teen was released.
