New Castle County and the Friends of Hockessin Colored School No. 107 entered into an agreement for the county to take over the majority of the maintenance of HCS No. 107 and establish the building and grounds as the county’s 250th park on Monday morning, August 10, 2020.
County Executive Matt Meyer, Senator Tom Carper, Senator Chris Coons, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, County Councilwoman Janet Kilpatrick, Chief Justice C.J. Seitz, former students and members of the Friends group all spoke at the event where a memorandum of understanding was signed making the move official.
