New Castle County Paramedics and several local fire companies kept busy most of Saturday afternoon treating several patients for trauma related injuries sustained in serious accidents throughout the New Castle and Wilmington areas.
NEW CASTLE (DE): Police are investigating a Saturday afternoon crash that injured a motorcyclist near New Castle. Police say the accident occurred on New Castle Avenue at Terminal Avenue, just south of Wilmington around 3:15 p.m.
The accident involved a dark colored sedan and a motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle was injured., police say.
According to New Castle County Paramedics, when medics arrived on scene they found the patient, a 27-year-old-man who was the operator of the motorcycle in the care of emergency medical technicians.
The patient was suffering injuries to his arm, leg and back. He was treated on scene and transported to Christiana Hospital via Holloway Terrace Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics in serious condition.
Police had the intersection closed for about 45 minutes while they investigated.
This wasn’t the only accident Saturday afternoon and New Castle County Paramedics began treating trauma patients for the next several hours.
Just before 7:00 p.m., First Responders were dispatched to the intersection of Governor Printz Boulevard and Interstate 495 Northbound on ramp for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
At the scene, New Castle County Paramedics found a patient, a 52-year-old-male motorcyclist, who suffered injuries to his arm and shoulder. The patient was treated on scene and transported to Christiana Hospital via Claymont Fire Company ambulance in stable condition.
Then, almost thirty minutes later around 7:30 p.m., First Responders were sent to yet another accident in the 300 block of Basin Road for an all-terrain vehicle crash.
At the scene, New Castle County Paramedics found a patient, a 20-year-old-male driver of the ATV, in care of emergency medical technicians. The patient was suffering injuries to his head and face and was treated on scene. He was transported to Christiana Hospital via Wilmington Manor Fire Company ambulance in stable condition.
