Police identify 17-Year-Old Teen killed in single vehicle crash on Grubb Road

Update: Police say the teen who died as a result of a high speed crash on Grubb Road has been identified as 17 year-old Nairee English of Wilmington.

WILMINGTON (DE) Original Story: A 17-year-old Wilmington teen is dead Wednesday night after driving on Grubb Road at a high rate of speed, then crashed into a tree just east of Foulk Road., police said.

Police, first responders, including New Castle County Paramedics, and Brandywine Hundred Fire Company were called to the crash scene just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the teen was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima, westbound Grubb Road at a high rate of speed. The teen failed to maintain control of the vehicle and left the roadway, the vehicle then spun out of control until it struck a tree where it came to a final rest.

Police say the teen was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police did not release his name because they are prohibited from releasing names of victims until a notification of next of kin can be made. However, he was identified Friday morning as 17-year-old Nairee English of Wilmington.

Grubb Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigation was completed and the roadway was cleared.
