WILMINGTON (DE): Two people are behind bars after police say they broke into an occupied Claymont home and kidnapped the elderly home owner.
Police say the incident occurred in the unit block of Seville Avenue in the community of Villa Monterey around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
Officers were originally dispatched to the residence for an unknown problem however, while en-route dispatchers advised them that two armed burglars had entered the residence and kidnapped the elderly male homeowner in his own vehicle.

Police say, that family member was able to call 911 before quickly hanging up, which prompted a response by officers.
“The officers observed the victim’s vehicle traveling in the area of Marsh Road and followed it into Winterhaven Drive.,” said police spokesman Grigori lopez Garcia. “A vehicle stop was conducted and both suspects were taken into custody without incident.”
