NEWARK (DE): A Newark man is behind bars awaiting extradition to Maryland after being accused of robbery in Ocean City, Maryland, police say.
On Friday, Ocean City, Maryland Police Department contacted Newark Police informing them of a robbery investigation they were conducting and ultimately an arrest warrant that was issued for 20-year-old John Sarmousakis, a Newark resident.

The warrant accuses Sarmousakis of robbery, assault and other offenses that was issued by the Worcester County (Maryland) District Court.
On the same day, Newark Police went to the suspect’s residence on Lynley Lane and arrested the suspect without incident and transported him to Newark Police headquarters.
The suspect, John Sarmousakis, 20, appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held without bail pending extradition to Maryland. He was turned over to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
