NEWARK (DE): Newark Police say they are investigating a shooting that injured a woman who was riding in a car with friends early Monday morning.
Officers were called to the intersection of Library Avenue and Delaware Avenue just after 2:00 a.m. Monday morning for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.
Officers found a female victim in a parking lot suffering a wound to the foot after having been struck by a bullet in the 800 block of Library Avenue.
According to police, in an initial investigation, they found that the victim and other occupants were in a vehicle when the passenger side was struck by gunfire while driving in the area of East Delaware Avenue and Library Avenue.
Although some of the witnesses remained with the victim at the scene, others left in the vehicle the woman was shot in and Police say investigators have since located that vehicle.

This investigation is in the early stages as detectives are obtaining various statements from witnesses and are examining the vehicle. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
