Police say the victim drove himself to a neighboring Royal Farms where a clerk rendered aid until troopers arrived.
NEWARK (DE): Delaware State Police say they are investigating a shooting at the Red Roof Inn in Stanton after a man was shot as he drove away from a verbal altercation he had with four other men.
Police say the shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. in the Red Roof Inn parking lot at 415 Stanton Christiana Road.
The victim, a 29-year-old man from New Castle told police he had a verbal exchange with the four men in the parking lot of the hotel as he was walking to his car.
“As the victim drove away from his parking spot, all four suspects began shooting at the victim’s vehicle striking it numerous times.,” Said Jason Hatchell, a Delaware State Police spokesman. “The victim was struck by one bullet in the chest.”
Hatchell said the victim drove himself to a neighboring Royal Farms where a clerk rendered aid until troopers arrived. The victim was then transported to an area hospital and treated for a gunshot wound.
The victim did not know the suspects and police have no suspect information at this time. Police also say there were no other reported injuries.
