Police who are investigating a fatal hit and run accident in Elsmere say the bicyclist who was struck died from his injuries on Tuesday January 5, 2021.
ELSMERE (DE): Delaware State Police say they are continuing to investigate the fatal hit and run accident that involved a bicyclist who recently died from his injuries.
Police say the collision occurred on westbound Kirkwood Highway west of North Woodward Avenue on December 24, 2020, around 7:15 p.m.
According to police, a 27-year-old man from Wilmington was traveling on a bicycle on the right shoulder of westbound Kirkwood Highway just east of the entrance ramp to northbound RT-141. Police say as the victim crossed over the entrance to the 141 ramp, An unknown vehicle that was traveling in the right lane of westbound Kirkwood Highway struck him.
Police say after the collision, the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The 27-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
