Two People stable after being shot on Winterhaven Drive Saturday afternoon

Two people were shot on Winterhaven Drive in Newark Saturday afternoon and Police say one of the victims drove himself to an emergency room.

NEWARK (DE) 01/24/21: Police say they are investigating a shooting on Winterhaven Drive near Newark in the community of Spring Crossing Apartments after two people were shot Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

Police say the New Castle County Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls of a shooting in progress and that’s when patrol officers were sent to investigate.

“When the officers arrived, they found one 20-year-old, male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity.,” Said New Castle County Police spokesman Michel Eckerd. “A second 20-year-old male victim was later discovered to have been driven to a local area hospital.” 

The second victim was also found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities., Eckerd said.

Both victims are listed in stable condition., Eckerd said.
