Two found dead in Brookside Park identified

Officers arrived on Carlisle Road in Brookside and observed two deceased male subjects inside of a vehicle.

NEWARK (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: New Castle County Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the unit block of Carlisle Road in the Brookside community Friday morning.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the scene just after 6:00 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. officers arrived on Carlisle Road and observed two deceased male subjects inside the vehicle.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and have assumed the investigation and on Saturday, Detectives identified the homicide victims as 20-year-old Zyitae Britt and 19-year-old Elijah Covington.

“On behalf of the men and women of the New Castle County Division of Police, I wish to express our condolences and prayers to the families who lost loved ones.”  stated Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr., “I can assure our communities that we are working diligently to identify those responsible for this senseless crime.”
