Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop and make contact with Burton, who fled a short distance before crashing into another vehicle.
WILMINGTON (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: 35-Year-Old Tyrell Burton of New Castle is behind bars after police say he fled from officers during a traffic stop following a domestic violence incident Sunday.
Wilmington Police say, following the domestic violence incident, Burton was able to flee the scene, however, officers were able to catch up to him and conduct a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, officers made contact with Burton, but Burton who was wanted on a unrelated matter, fled a short distance before crashing into another vehicle.
Burton was quickly subdued and taken into custody. He was charged with a number of traffic offenses as well as Assault (2nd Degree), Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence (Two Counts), Vehicular Assault (2nd Degree) and Driving While Suspended or Revoked.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $9,303 secured bail.
Police say, there was no serious injuries during the crash.
