Two shooting incidents that left a man hospital in stable condition, a suspect is arrested hours later
WILMINGTON (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: Wilmington Police say they have arrested 18-Year-Old Brennan Velez hours after a man was shot on Maryland Avenue Wednesday night.
Police say Valez is facing several charges including attempted murder after the early evening shooting.
According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of Maryland Avenue around 6:00 p.m. for reports of a shooting and that’s where officers located the victim, a 21-year-old man. Luckily, the man lived and was was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Meanwhile, as detectives investigate the scene, a short time after the shooting incident, officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of West 10th Street in reference to a possible shots fired incident.
“Through investigative measures, police were able to identify the suspect in that incident as a suspect in connection with the shooting incident.,” Said police spokesman David Karas.
Police took 18-year-old Brennan Velez into custody without incident, and he has been charged with Attempted Murder (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Discharging a Firearm on a City Street.
Velez was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $150,100 cash-only bail.
