Police say “Speed was definitely a factor” in a Wednesday night crash that killed 19-Year-Old Jherami Brown.

BEAR (DE) BY DIGITAL STAFF: A 19-Year-Old man is dead and police say speed appears to be a factor in the single vehicle crash – a crash that could had been avoided.

New Castle County Police say officers were dispatched to the area of McCoy Road and Nattul Drive in the community of Red Lion Chase around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night to investigate a single vehicle crash.

“When officers arrived Brown had been transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.,” said police spokesman Michel Eckerd.

Investigators with the New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit, who arrived at the scene learned that the 2008 Ford Focus that was driven by Jherami was traveling southbound on McCoy Road. Investigators say the vehicle left the edge of the roadway in the area of Nattul Drive and struck a tree.

The investigation also revealed that while alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be the cause of the crash, speed was definitely a factor.
